Thanks to a schedule change and a holiday, I am enjoying a four-day weekend. One of the daily activities separate from the piles of dirty laundry is a strict regimen of absolutely nothing. It’s necessary that we sometimes hit the veritable “reset” button. And although we’re tuned to be on the go constantly, the uneasy feeling of sitting around accomplishing nothing actually helps. For me, doing nothing restores energy and relaxes the mind. It reignites the senses and charges the vision. Last night we decided to hang up about twelve black and white digital prints on our wall with two pair of hooks, clothesline, and clothespins. The content ranges from life by the ocean to travels in Switzerland to Space Shuttle launches. It is aesthetically pleasing, relaxing, and reminds me of time spent in the darkroom hunched over plastic trays and the glow of an amber light. I had been meaning to get these personal images up and now was the perfect time.
