tangible art

In case anyone missed it is that possible, the LA Times has a gallery of required viewing on the California wildfires. The opportunity for a Pulitzer is realistic.

And now that television studios have gone fortunately dark, now is the perfect time to keen one’s vision on tangible art, like Alec Soth’s “Dog Days, Bogota,” opening up in exhibition November 9 at the Weinstein Gallery. The lesser lucky will settle for the book, which should be arriving on the front door step soon. Canadian photographer Edward Burtynsky’s book “Quarries” just arrived in the mail. It delights in the wide and the layout flows like a good David Alan Harvey book. It is rather expensive, but worth the money for a good photo book collection.

Photographer Johanna Reed has a blog, “This is That,” that mingles both in on-and-off the mainstream photographers, photographs, and other art oddities. Her series “There is a Layer of Dust on Everything” really stands out for the use of light, mood, and composition.
